Right: A terrazzo garage floor; the look of terrazzo floor was and is still popular in the mid-century and modern structures, the grinding treatment to existing concrete can give the look of terrazzo but actual terrazzo is a process of fabricating concrete on site with specific colored marble or other type stone aggregate. The grinding and polishing exposes the cut-away look of the aggregate. Most terrazzo floors are sealed with a lacquer or hard film sealer, a wax can be applied and burnished. This is the most expensive concrete treatment, as much as $90.00 per square foot.

Overlays also referred to as "resurfacing" have been around for more the 50 years,
the ordinary cool deck coatings have evolved into endless design possibilities in any application. Overlays cover existing concrete with a new look of concrete or some other appearance, multi-colored pools, sawed sectors or borders are very popular looks now. Microtoppings refer to an overlay simi-leveling or self-leveling of at 1/8 inch or less.
